Spinal Energetics
in the
Dandenong Ranges

Your body has been holding on to stress for so long that you’ve forgotten what relaxed feels like.

Spinal Energetics works with the spine, the nervous system and the energy field through light touch, sound and movement.

There's nothing to push against and nothing to get right. Your body leads, and I follow.

What is Spinal Energetics?

Spinal Energetics is a gentle, body based approach developed in Melbourne by Dr Sarah Jane Perri.

Through light touch, sound and energetic movement, Spinal Energetics works with the spine, nervous system and energy field, supporting mind-body connection, allowing you to reorganise, recalibrate, and integrate what your body is ready to.

Sometimes that response is subtle. Sometimes people notice spontaneous movement, changes in breathing, emotion, or a deep sense of relaxation.

Every session involves careful observation of how your body responds throughout a session, and every experience is different.

You don’t have to make anything happen. There’s no right way to respond, and no expectation that you’ll move, cry, shake or feel anything dramatic.

The session follows what your body naturally does rather than trying to create a particular outcome.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

This might be for you if…

You carry tension that no amount of stretching seems to shift

You look calm on the outside and feel like you're running hot underneath

You can't quite drop into rest, even when nothing is wrong

You'd like to work with your body without having to talk it all through

You came across a video of this somewhere and haven't quite stopped thinking about it

This might not be the right fit if...

You’re looking for a structural adjustment. That’s chiropractic care, not what I offer.

You’re looking for trauma therapy rather than gentle bodywork.

You’re looking for someone else to do the work for you. This approach asks your body to lead, not me.

You’re hoping for a quick answer to a complicated problem. This work tends to unfold at its own pace.

Someone else thinks you should be here, but you’re not sure you want to be. These sessions work best when the decision is yours.

IS THIS FAMILIAR?

When your body won't let go

You know where it lives.

Between your shoulder blades. In your jaw. In the lower backache that’s been there so long you’ve stopped counting.

You’ve stretched.

You’ve had massages.

You’ve seen someone who adjusted it, and it felt wonderful for a day or two.

And sometimes there’s something harder to describe.  A sense that your body never quite switches off. You lie down at night, but it takes a long time for the rest of you to arrive.

WHEN NOTHING CHANGES

What this does

Living in that state can become exhausting.

You find yourself feeling tired even after you’ve rested. You notice yourself saying no to things you once had the energy for.

Moments that should feel easy ask more of you than they used to. The hardest part is how gradually it happens.

After a while it stops feeling like something you’re carrying and starts feeling like your normal. You forget there was another way to feel, so you stop looking for one.

Sometimes the hardest thing isn’t holding on. It’s remembering what it feels like to let go.

HOW PEOPLE OFTEN FIND THEIR WAY HERE

It’s not about replacing what’s helping.
It’s about adding something different.

01

Chiropractic & Physiotherapy

WHEN STRUCTURE IS THE FOCUS

If you’re dealing with injury, pain or movement restrictions, chiropractic and physiotherapy is incredibly valuable.

Spinal Energetics isn’t a replacement for either. Many people choose to use both.

02

Massage

WHEN YOUR MUSCLES NEEDS RELIEF

Massage can help muscles soften and bring a genuine sense of ease.

Some people enjoy alternating Spinal Energetics and massage because each offers a different experience.

03

Psychology & Counselling

WHEN YOU NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO

Talking therapies create understanding, perspective and practical tools.

Spinal Energetics isn’t psychotherapy, but some people choose body based work alongside counselling or psychology.

04

Spinal Energetics

WHEN YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM NEEDS SUPPORT

Spinal Energetics doesn’t replace other therapies. It offers a different experience, one that focuses on gentle touch, movement and paying attention to what your body is already doing.

Every session is different, and there’s nothing you need to perform or achieve.

IN THE ROOM

What happens in our session

We sit and talk for a little while first. Where you're at, what's been going on, anything you'd like me to know. I'll explain where I'd like to place my hands and check that feels alright with you, and that checking in carries on through the session, because permission isn't something you sign once at the door.

Then you settle onto the table, fully clothed, face down with your face resting in the cradle so your spine can lie easily.

Music on. Lights low.

I work with light finger contact at points along the head, neck, spine and sacrum, and I also work hands-off, with my hands held above your body rather than on it. Sound and gentle movement come in where they're needed.

And then your body begins doing something you aren't directing.

It might be very small. A change in the breath. A softening through the jaw. A slow lengthening you didn't ask for. It might be bigger, with movement that arrives on its own. Or it might happen almost entirely on the inside, with nothing at all to see from where I'm standing. These are all the same processes, and not one of them is a better session than the others. I emphasise this because some videos shared online show a snippet of a pronounced version, and that's understandably created an expectation this work never asked for.

My role isn’t to make anything happen. It’s to create a calm, respectful space where you can simply notice what your body does, without needing to force, perform or achieve anything.

No manipulation. No cracking. No force. Nothing done to you.

The movement you may have seen online

You’ve probably seen the videos. Bodies moving in ways that may look dramatic, with plenty of opinions in the comments.

The truth is much more nuanced than social media makes it seem.

Movement can happen during a session, but it doesn’t always.

Some people notice gentle stretching, a deep breath or a sigh. Others remain almost completely still.

You’re awake and aware the whole time. There’s nothing you need to make happen, and nothing you need to hold back.

Movement isn’t the goal, and stillness isn’t a sign that nothing happened.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

When is Spinal Energetics not recommended?

Spinal Energetics isn’t suitable for everyone, and that’s okay.

If you’re pregnant, recently gave birth, recovering from surgery or injury, or you’re living with a significant physical or mental health condition, please let me know before you book. In some situations I’ll recommend waiting a little longer. In others, we can use Kinesiology or another approach instead. Because every session is tailored to you, there are usually options.

Please get in touch before booking if any of these apply to you:

KIND WORDS FROM MY CLIENTS

What people say about Spinal Energetics

"I first came to Kath for a session that left me with a profound sense of wholeness, like a long exhale after holding my breath for too long. Since then, I've had two Spinal Energetics sessions with Kath... If you feel drawn to exploring Spinal Energetics or simply feel that something within you is asking for deeper connection, I can wholeheartedly recommend Kath and Hill Tribe Healing."

Sandra S

"I've had several Kinesiology and Spinal Energetics sessions with Kath, and each one has been incredibly powerful... I always leave my sessions feeling lighter, calmer and more grounded, with a deeper sense of connection to myself."

Emily R

"I recently experienced a Spinal Energetics & Kinesiology Healing session with Kath. It was incredibly powerful, I felt a deep release, there was a sense of my energy gently unwinding, shifting and realigning."

Jackie G

These are individual experiences and yours may differ. Kinesiology, Spinal Energetics and Reiki Energy Healing are complementary therapies and do not replace medical care. *Verbatim from public Google reviews, 5.0 from 26 reviews.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this chiropractic?

No. There's no adjustment, no manipulation, no cracking and no thrusting. Chiropractors are AHPRA-registered practitioners doing structural work on joints, and that's a qualification I don't hold. This is gentle somatic and energetic work with the nervous system. If what your body needs is structural, please do see a chiropractor.

There's some overlap, in that both can involve light or no contact at all. The difference is where the attention goes. Reiki is largely still, working across the body's energy centres. Spinal Energetics works along the spine specifically, combines gentle contact with hands-off work, and often involves the body moving.

It might, and it's much more ordinary than it sounds. You're awake and in control the whole time, and plenty of sessions involve almost no visible movement at all.

Something is happening, whether or not there's anything to see. A system that's been holding on for a long time often needs a session or two before it trusts the space enough to soften. That's pacing, not failure. Just like personalities, some body's are more introverted in their expression than extraverted. Movement doesn't equal success, it's just one of the ways the body and the nervous system can unwind.

There's no published research on Spinal Energetics yet. It's only five years old. What does exist is indirect: research on touch, on rest, and on slow breathing helping the nervous system come out of a stress state, alongside a great deal of client experience. Some of what happens in a session is probably explained by ordinary physiology, safety and attention, and I'm not going to dress that up as anything grander. Come for an hour and see how it sits with you.

No. You stay fully clothed the whole time, lying on a table. Wear whatever you are comfortable in. I do need access to your neck and spine, so thick jumpers and hoodies would need to be taken off. If it's online though, you're welcome to wear whatever is most comfortable.

Yes you can. If you'd like to experience Spinal Energetics alone, I recommend booking a 'Recharge' 1 hour session. If you'd like to experience Spinal Energetics and a Nervous System Kinesiology Balance book the 1.5 hour 'Realign' session, and if you'd like to experience a full Spinal Energetics alignment as well as an intuitive Kinesiology balance, select the 2 hour 'Restore' session. You can choose these specifically when you book in for any of these sessions.

In the beginning I recommend sessions approximately every 4 weeks, to get the most benefit from this work. Over time the gap between them often gets longer. Trust that you’ll know what you need, and there is never any pressure from me on this.

Not at all. A good portion of the work is hands-off anyway, and if you'd prefer no contact whatsoever, just say and I'll work that way. It's entirely your call, and it doesn't lessen the session one bit.

Most people feel settled, sometimes a little dreamy. Some feel tired or tender for a day while things integrate. Drink plenty of water, keep the evening gentle, and give the alcohol and the hard workout a miss for 48 hours. I will provide you with an aftercare sheet at the end of your first session and if you need any further support afterwards you're welcome to contact me directly. I will check in with you a few days after your session to see how you're doing too.

No. Spinal Energetics isn't a registered modality, so there's no Medicare or health fund rebate available.

Online sessions are just as effective as in person.

Many clients also find that working from the comfort and privacy of their own home helps them feel more relaxed and open during the process.

Spinal Energetics isn’t suitable for everyone. Pregnancy, recent surgery or injury, some neurological and cardiovascular conditions, and certain mental health conditions may mean it’s not appropriate, or that you should wait until a later time.If you’re unsure, please contact me before booking. We can talk about what’s going on and whether Spinal Energetics, Kinesiology, or another approach is the better fit.For the complete and most up to date list of contraindications, see the Spinal Energetics guidance.
